Mobile home park faces utility issues

The Evangeline Mobile Home Park on North Main Street will be inspected for electrical safety and compliance with utility right-of-way guidelines.
At Monday’s city council meeting, owner Mark Brignac and his attorney Craig Piccione requested that the city utility system perform electric service upgrades at the park. Part of the park was upgraded by the city several years ago, but several trailers, Brignac said, have a dangerously inadequate power supply, resulting in damage to appliances and posing a fire risk.

DOTD trying new coating on Henderson’s Main St.

As part of the state’s program to improve roadway areas with high-accident rates, the curves on LA 352/Henderson Main Street have been coated with a new anti-skid material.
At the Jan. 14 town council meeting, Mayor Sherbin Collette said the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) claims the sprayed-on material is both effective and very durable.

SM’s first ‘town hall’ meeting set

Mayor Melinda Mitchell and District 1 Councilman Mike Fuselier are inviting District 1 residents to join them at the Magnolia Park Recreation Center at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29 for the first in a series of “town hall” meetings scheduled for 2019.
The guest speaker will be Jennifer Stelly, executive director of the St. Martin Parish Economic Development Authority (SMEDA).
