The Louisiana Department of Health will continue to offer flu vaccines at no cost at parish health units across the state through Monday, Feb. 12. The vaccine is available to anyone who has not yet received a vaccine this flu season.
Because of the level of flu activity and the success of the no-cost flu clinics held last week when more than 2,800 vaccines were administered at more than 60 locations across the state, the Department is extending this effort to meet the demand and need for flu vaccinations in Louisiana.

Members of the St. Martin School Board are scheduled to discuss a possible salary supplement for the system’s 1,000-plus employees during their monthly meeting today (Wednesday).
The board’s Finance Committee will meet at 4 p.m. in the Administrative Office on Corporate Boulevard with the full board convening at 5 p.m.
An additional one-time salary supplement of as much as $1,000 has been brought up several times over the past few months without any action being taken.

The Newcomers Club of St. Martinville will stage its inaugural Mardi Gras Festival this Sunday, Feb. 11, at the city’s festival grounds along Bayou Teche.
The grounds will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. with food, craft vendors, local dancing groups and music for entertainment.
Bands scheduled to perform include Grand Slam Band (noon to 2 p.m.), Donna Angelle (3 to 5 p.m.), Kamesha Cole & Soul Konnection (6 to 8 p.m.), and Danger and the Zydeco All Stars (9 to 11 p.m.).
The Untouchable Dance Group will performs at 2:30 p.m. and the Twirling Divas at 5:30 p.m.
