A VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the recently renovated Veterans Park on Berard Street in Breaux Bridge. The ceremony will honor those who have served in the military.

St. Martinville – Mayor Thomas Nelson’s lawsuit against Espinola Quinn has been dismissed by a state judge.
The suit resulted from a Washington Post article in which Quinn alleged Thomas had taken racially-biased actions to cancel the annual Newcomers Club Mardi Gras parade.
Quinn is quoted in the article as saying of the mayor, “He promised the whites he was going to shut the n...rparade down.”

St. Martinville – Calder Hebert ended his term as Police Chief on Tuesday, June 19. Amid the sounds of turmoil from members of the audience, Joe Nedie was appointed interim chief. All council members except new District 5 representative Edmund Joseph, who abstained, approved the appointment.
Breaux Bridge – St. Martin Parish officials are on a very pleasant mission as they make the rounds of municipal council meetings this month. They are notifying the various government bodies of the share of funding they will receive out of proceeds from the recently-passed bond reassignment.
