Remi Joseph Gardemal

St. Martinville – Remi Joseph Gardemal, 72, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Calcutta House in Lafayette, Louisiana. Born on February 25, 1951, in St. Martinville, LA, Remi was the beloved son of the late William and Eula Champagne Gardemal and was one of three children.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Deacon Adam Conque’ conducted the services.

Entombment was held at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Donald Dean Akers Sr.

St. Martinville – A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville honoring the life of Donald Dean Akers, Sr. where he was a lifelong parishioner and Eucharistic Minister. He died at his residence in St. Martinville on Friday February 16, 2024.

Msgr. Keith Derouen will officiate with scriptures read by Donald Akers, Jr. and Jackie Patterson. Gift bearers will be his grandsons, Miles and Ty Daigle and music will be provided by Patrick Melancon, director of music.

Sammy Russo

Parks - A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks for Sammy Russo, 80, who passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024.

He is survived by his wife Monita “Mona” Russo; son, Eric John Russo; daughter, Jenny Maria Russo; two grandchildren; brother, Leonard Russo; sisters, Virginia Latiolais and Chris Wyatt.

Pellerin Funeral Home  was in charge of arrangements.

Moise J. LeBlanc

Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held Feb. 21, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Moise “Hobo” James LeBlanc, Jr., 89, who died Feb. 16, 2024. 

He is survived by his spouse, Aeola Thibodeaux LeBlanc; sons, Quin Anthony LeBlanc, Brett Paul LeBlanc, and Vira John LeBlanc; sister, Rena Courville; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pellerin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Peggy Louise Theriot

St. Martinville – Peggy Theriot, a native of St. Martinville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14 at Landmark of Acadiana.  

Peggy was an amazing sister, aunt, great aunt and friend. She knew no strangers and helped anyone she could.
