Sandra K. Luster Parsons

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on August 8, 2026, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Sandra Kay Luster Parsons, 80, who passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at St. Agnes Rehabilitation and Rehab in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.

A rosary will be recited in St. Bernard Church at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Fr. Evan Hebert. Burial will take place at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.

Sandra was born on January 1, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio. After graduating from high school, she began working in Liberty, Kentucky, where she later met her husband, David T. Parsons, Jr., from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. David was a helicopter mechanic and was in Kentucky for an assignment from Petroleum Helicopters, Inc., his employer. Later, Sandra and David were married on November 24, 1968, Thanksgiving Day, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Clemensville, Kentucky, and returned to Louisiana where they resided in Breaux Bridge. They were married 57 years.

Though Sandra and David had no children. she thoroughly enjoyed attending all the many family gatherings with her husband’s family and friends. She easily adapted to Cajun food, music, and culture. For 18 years she was employed by Burger Chef working as a bookkeeper. After the company was dissolved, being very artistic by nature, she began working with ceramics and molds and painted numerous, beautiful pieces which she gave as gifts to family.

Due to a childhood debilitating physical condition, later in her life she joined her husband as a resident of St. Agnes Healthcare and Rehab and remained there for over four years. During that time she was baptised and confirmed into the Catholic Church.

Sandra was an extremely generous, kind person. She enjoyed talking and laughing with people. She loved feeding wild birds and animals around her home and would give some of them names. She will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law and friend, Cecile P. Usie, and by her Cajun families she had come to love.

Sandra is survived by a brother, Larry Luster (Janet} of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; her sister-in-law Cecile P. Usie (Norman); a niece, Lauren “Kitty” U. Janise (David); two nephews, Chippy Usie (Nicole) and Kyle Usie (Jill) as well as numerous grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David T. Parsons, Jr.; her parents, Cleo and Lois Richardson Luster; and a sister, Gloria Dean Luster Wilson.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many nurses, aides, and administrative staff for their patient, quality care at St. Agnes and to Hospice of Acadiana.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Lafayette, LA 70503.
