A visitation tookplace at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and continued Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

A Rosary was prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening by the Knights of Columbus.

Father Garrett Mc-Intyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass with Deacon Perry Guidry as the concelebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Clarence Theriot, affectionately known as “Pop.” Born on August 8, 1938, in Parks, Louisiana, Clarence’s life was a tapestry of love, hard work, and unwavering faith that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

A proud and honorable veteran of the United States Army, Clarence served with distinction after the Korean conflict, for a total of six years; three years of active duty and three years in the reserve.

His commitment to the Army began while he was still in high school, having to earn his diploma while he was in the service.

Family was the cornerstone of Clarence’s life. He came from a lineage of farmers and hardworking individuals, and he cherished his time with his family, visiting his parents and siblings weekly. He was a loving husband to his wife, Ozia Blanchard Theriot, for 66 years and a devoted father who instilled values of faith and community in his children. Clarence was a man of many talents and passions. He found joy in upholstery, carpentry, and the outdoors-enjoying fishing, hunting, and spending time at the camp on Cow Island. He was also known for his love of Cajun dancing, cooking, and gatherings with friends. The warmth of his beautiful smile greeted everyone he encountered, leaving a lasting impression on all.

Faith was a guiding force in Clarence’s life. As an active parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, he served as a lay minister and usher, sharing his love of God with his community. His commitment to teaching religion at the church and at home was a testament to the values he held dear. He was a proud fourth-degree knight with the Knights of Columbus, embodying the spirit of service.

Professionally, Clarence worked as a butcher at Delcambre Slaughterhouse, Champagne’s, and Simon’s in Breaux Bridge. His passion for service continued when he co-owned Theriot’s Service Center with his son, Kenneth, where they operated a fullservice gas station for 21 years until its closure in 2006.

Clarence will be remembered for his generous spirit, unwavering faith, and the love he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ozia Blanchard Theriot; son, Kenneth Theriot (Jennifer); daughters, Edna Guilbeaux (Craig) and Ellen Savant (Neal); daughter-in-law, Dawn Broussard; grandchildren, René Guilbeaux (Gina), Jean-Luc Guilbeaux (Ella), Amelia Broussard, Matthew Broussard (Jana), William Broussard, Kade Theriot (Jami), Krysten Poindexter (Jacob), Kaleb Theriot, Maci Theriot, Alyssa Savant and Emily Savant; great- grandchildren, Laura Mae Guilbeaux, Avin Theriot, Hayden Hughes, Gemma Grace Broussard and Andie Claire Broussard; sisters, Mary Jane Ozenne and Joyce Ann Champagne; brother-in-law, Leon Blanchard (Rose); sister-in-law, Georgie Blanchard; and godchildren, Larry Dupuis and Randy Theriot.

He is preceded in death by his son, Nolan Theriot; daughter, Yvonne Theriot; greatgrandchild, Maddox Theriot; parents, Alexie Theriot, Sr. and Marie Jeanne Blanchard Theriot; siblings, Milton Theriot (Joyce), Alexie Theriot, Jr. (Doris), Mildred Degeyter (William), Aline Guidry (Herband), Odell Lovell (Ray), Lillian Degeyter (Wilbert), Maydell Dupuis (Lawrence), Claude Theriot, Lennet Theriot, and Sister Ameline Theriot; godchild, Ray Lovell, Jr.; parents-in-law, Paulin Blanchard, Sr. and Alice LeBlanc Blanchard; and brothers-in-law, Jessie Champagne, Anthony Ozenne, Allen Blanchard, Sr. and Leo Blanchard.

Pallbearers will be René Guilbeaux, Jean-Luc Guilbeaux, Kade Theriot, Kaleb Theriot, Kenneth Theriot and Craig Guilbeaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Theriot, Larry Dupuis and Jacob Poindexter.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers and nurses from NSI Hospice and Right At Home, as well as special caregiver and dear family friend, the late Fabian “Faye” Tucker, for the many years of care and compassion they provided.
