Obituaries

St. Martinville – Graveside services were conducted for Shirles “Champ” Joseph Champagne Sr., 85, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at St. Michaels Mausoleum. Fr. Ed Degeyter officiated.

A gathering of family and friends took place at Evangeline Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service time. A rosary was prayed at 10:30 a.m.

A native and resident of Parks, Mr. Champagne passed away peacefully on Friday, December 3, 2021, at his residence surrounded by loving family.

St. Martinville – A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Aurelia “Ya” Berard Guirard, 97. Msgr. Jefferson DeBlanc will be the celebrant. Following the Mass, Mrs. Guirard will be laid to rest at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Guirard passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Landmark of Acadiana.

Arnaudville – A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 6 at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church for Cynthia Robin Taylor, 73, who died on Dec. 4, 2021.

She is survived by her husband, John Ray Taylor; daughters, Mrs. Rickey (Delana) Quebedeaux and Mrs. Parker (Alida) Alleman; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pellerin Funeral Home  was in charge of arrangements.
