St. Martinville – On Sunday, July 3, 2022, heaven gained the matriarch of our family.
Donna “Doni” Lynn Brannon Simar was born in Westlake, La. on February 7, 1954. She was born to Betty Jean Daigle Caswell and Steadmon Brannon and raised by Shelton Caswell. Doni had two sisters – Denise Broussard (Pat) and Dana, and one brother, Danny. Aunt Doni had many nieces, and nephews.
Godfrey A. Bernard of New Iberia passed away peacefully on July 7th, 2022, at the age of 78 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Godfrey was born in St. Martinville, La. to Burna and Godfrey Bernard. Prior to receiving his bachelor’s degree at USL, he served in the National Guard. Shortly after graduating, he started his career in the oil field and held his longest standing positions at Tenneco Oil and Diamond Offshore.
Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on July 4 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church for Roland J. Chevalier, 73, who died on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.
He was first African American to serve as superintendent of Schools in St. Martin Parish.
Survivors included his wife, Isabella Roberts Chevalier; two children, Dr. Tiffanny Chevalier and Robert Chevalier; and siblings, Ezebe Chevalier, Thelma Mouton, Irma Robicheaux, Lillian Rosignon and Joanna Chevalier.

Breaux Bridge – Funeral services were celebrated on June 25 at Pellerin Funeral Home for Phillip Daigle, 83, who died on June 18, 2022.
He is survived by his sons, Phillip and Jason Daigle; brothers, Raymond and Russell Daigle; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Breaux Bridge – A Memorial service will be held on July 2 at Pellerin Funeral Home for Melissa Faye Cormier, 57, who died on June 18, 2022.
She is survived by her son, Trey Cormier; three grandchildren; and brothers, Gene, Jon and Jared Fontenot.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rodney Fontenot; and mother, Melba Cormier Fontenot.
