Born and raised in Breaux Bridge, La. and a veteran who honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy, he was known to many as Green, Uncle Bill, Uncle William, or Will as his mother called him, was a lover of the Cajun-French language, and all things wood and metal. A maker of beautiful knives and chairs, and a welder his entire life until “early retirement” at the age of 74.
He was a builder, fabricator and relished the outdoors. He lived for hunting season and was a true outdoorsman. A prankster and comedian at heart, he appreciated a good joke and the company of his many friends and family members.
His main concern was the welfare and feelings of his granddaughters, children, family and friends. He was a devoted father, grandfather, a very hard worker with an impeccable work ethic and was a one of a kind, decent and loyal friend. He will be missed by the many who loved and appreciated him. If he couldn’t make you smile, you just didn’t have a funny bone!
He is survived by his four children, Donna Green and Troy Green and his wife, Sonya, and their mother, Rose Marie Racca; Jennifer Green and her significant other Eugeniu Josanu, and Jason Green, and their mother, Patsy Ann Hebert; three grandchildren, Marley Green, Violet Green and Scarlet Green; two brothers, Allen Green and Carroll Green and his wife Greta; numerous nieces and nephews; and his devoted friends, Roy Bodoin, Raymond Hebert and Nolan Barras.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lydia Broussard Green; and his brother, Richard Paul Green.
Pallbearers were Jason Green, Stuart Green, Daniel Green, Morgan Green, Roy Bodoin and Eugeniu Josanu.
Honorary pallbearers were Troy Green, Michael Green, Kort Green, Allen Green, Carroll Green, Raymond Hebert, Nolan Barras, Willie Moody and Alton Batiste.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the doctors and staff of St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge for their compassionate and professional care given to William.
