Sonny was the proprietor of Champagne’s Bakery in Breaux Bridge for over 40 years. Waking up in the early morning hours every day, he took great pride and pleasure in providing his customers and local restaurants with the freshest French bread, Po-Boy loaves, and the most delicious pastries, especially his world-renowned Pink Cookies.

Seeing his customers leave with a smile on their faces while carrying those little white bags filled with pastries or a hot loaf of French bread cradled in their arms was gratifying to him.

Sonny enjoyed working in his 133-year-old family-owned business and was proud to be a part of the Breaux Bridge community. He will always be remembered for his genuine kindness and heart-warming smile. Sonny loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends, and he will be sadly missed by his community and everyone who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his two sons, Paul Champagne (Caddie) and Ross Champagne; his grandchildren, Alex Champagne and Logan Champagne; and two sisters, Carol Guidry and Margaret Barron (Edward).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sidney and Ada Angelle Champagne Sr.

Pallbearers were Paul   Champagne, Mike Barron, Alex Champagne, Bobby Martin, Cliff Angelle, Doug Angelle.

Honorary pallbearer was Ross Champagne.
