Shirley Marie Hayes

Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at  4 p.m, on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Shirley Marie Hayes, 81, who passed away surrounded by her family.

A visitation was held at the funeral home in Cecilia on Tuesday from  8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

A rosary was recited at  3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Rev. Msgr. Jefferson Deblanc officiated at the Funeral Mass.  Readers were Lindsay Hayes and Ashley Steele. Jaxon Steele and Lane Hayes served as Gift Bearers.

Shirley was known as “Granny” to everyone who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved spending time with her family, cooking, shopping, and traveling.  On Friday nights, she could always be found playing a good game of Bourrée.   

She is survived by her daughter, Jaimee (Lance) Taylor; sons, Warren Hayes, Sherman (Brenda) Hayes, Herman Hayes, Todd (Vonda) Hayes, and Jeremy (Cynthia) Hayes; grandchildren, Brandon, Justin, Lindsay, Heather, Dillon, Tyler, Miles, Ashley, Thad, Aaron, Dustin, Hailey, Ashton and Heidi; great-grandchildren Kadence, Amiley, Clair, Camryn, Parker, Reagan, Janci, Jayda, Lane, Silas, Austin, Jaxson, Kirra, Isabella, Tabathia, Jaxon, Bo, Lucas, Finn, Pippin and Shilo; sisters, Jeanette Blanchard, Burline Scrantz, and Loula Mae Faucheaux.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred John Hayes; parents, Dorsey and Alexita Bergeron Hayes; and her grandchildren, Laura Marie Hayes, Mathew Hayes, and Nicholas Hayes.

Pallbearers were Brandon Hayes, Dillon Hayes, Tyler Hayes, Thad Hayes, Dustin Hayes and Ashton Hayes.

Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Hayes, Miles Hayes and Justin Hayes.

The family would like to thank Dr. Degatur, Dr. Penllia, Hope Hospice, and Monique Olivier for their compassionate care given to her during her time of need.

Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
