A native and resident of Parks, Mr. Champagne passed away peacefully on Friday, December 3, 2021, at his residence surrounded by loving family.

Born on November 22, 1936, to the late Sandes and Lucy Champagne, Shirles was one of seven children. Better known as “Champ” by family and friends, he was a kind and easygoing gentleman who enjoyed the simple life. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, and friend to all, Champ will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sadia Trosclair Champagne; children, Arlene Champagne, Johnny Champagne (Roxanna) and Ellen Taylor (Paul); grandchildren, Nicholas Simon and Maci Gravouilla; great-grandchildren, Jacob Simon and Leah Simon; and siblings, Willis Champagne (Judy), Janelle Theriot (Carol) and Nancy Latiolais (Randolph).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sandes and Lucy Champagne; brothers, Carol Champagne and Robert Champagne; and sister, Rita C. Bonin.

Pallbearers were Johnny Champagne, Paul Taylor, Nicholas Simon, Jacob Simon, Rene Champagne and Willis Champagne.
