Sable ‘Toppy’ (Wills) Calais

Breaux Bridge – Sable “Toppy” (Wills) Calais, born on April 25, 1927, in Church Point, Louisiana, to the late Etta Bergeron Wills and the late Prescot Wills, passed away at age 91 on September 5, 2018, at St. Agnes Nursing Home in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.
Sable’s first husband was the late Belton Bergeron. Later, she was married to the late Allen Calais Sr.
“Maw-maw Calais,” as she was lovingly called by many, was often seen around Breaux Bridge walking. She enjoyed making friends and never met a stranger. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and was a devout Catholic. She was a caring, loving and thoughtful person.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charles “Mickey” Bergeron; daughter,Terry “Kate” Roy; and sister, Tiny Venable.
Sable is survived by her son, Carrol Bergeron; daughter, Mary “Janell” Bellard; sisters, Bell Savoy and Barbara Higginbotham; and grandchildren, John Bergeron, Corey Bergeron, Callie Berard, Ben Bellard, Kimberly Roy, Kristy Guidry and Abby Howerton. Also her many great-grandchildren, whom she adored.
Her final good deed was donating her body to science. She will be missed by many and remembered lovingly.
