Rose worked at Marine Electric in Lafayette for years until she and Sandy purchased a grocery store in Cecilia in May of 1971. This small grocery store eventually became the successful business now known as Green’s Piggly Wiggly  or “The Pig” in Cecilia.  The success and growth of the store was a passion of both Rose and Sandy and they worked together as a team to improve and develop the business for 35 years.

After Sandy’s death, Rose continued to work at the store, alongside her son Dayne, until recently.

She adored her nieces and nephews, treasured her lifelong friendships with her cousins and cherished her dear friends. She knew no stranger. Rose was very proud of her heritage, being the youngest from a family of ten children, whose first language was French. Rose spoke French beautifully. She was known to brag about her cotton-picking days and her humble beginnings.

She was thoughtful, kind, generous beyond measure and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Rose had a special devotion to the blessed Mother and said the Rosary daily and also belonged to a weekly Rosary group. Her faith and trust in God is her greatest gift to her family.  She believed in the power of prayer and shared her faith with everyone by the way that she lived.

Rose was joyful, loved life, lived life to its fullest, loved to dance, cook, travel and be with friends and family.  She was a world traveler and had been on numerous cruises. She was quick to laugh, especially at herself. Rose was an avid gardener and exceptional cook.

Rose was the owner and operator of The Piggly Wiggly and president of Greens E-Z Way Corporation, was awarded Business of the Year by the Breaux Bridge Chamber of Commerce in 2017.  She was a member of Joie de Vivre Theresian Community, serving as leader several times, member of the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Paul in Breaux Bridge, Chapel Adorer for over 35 years, member of the Associated Wholesale Grocers, Breaux Bridge Chamber of Commerce and Teche Center for the Arts.

Rose will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
