Robert ‘Grandpa’ Huval

Breaux Bridge – A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Robert “Grandpa” Huval, 79, who passed away on March 26, 2023, at his residence.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Deacon Butch Hebert will officiate the memorial service. Interment will follow at St. Bernard No. 2 Cemetery.

Robert “Grandpa” Huval was born May 7, 1943. He was a lifelong resident of Breaux Bridge. He passed away on March 26, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Robert proudly served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1964. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he went on to work for McDermott International. He was known to his coworkers as Captain Robert. He started off as a deckhand and worked his way up to Superintendent.

During his 40-year career, he traveled the world. He was well liked and very respected by his peers. In 1967, he married the love of his life, Diane LeBlanc. Even after 55 years of marriage you could still see the love between them.

Robert was a family man and after his retirement he devoted his life to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 294, in Cecilia, Louisiana, in which he was actively involved. Robert showed his love by action, not words. He was the most selfless, loving, proud man.

He is loved by so many, he will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Huval; daughters, Donna Huval Thibodeaux and Tricia Huval Haywood (Larry); brother, Maxie Huval; grandchildren, Danah Thibodeaux, Shane Haywood, Mallory Haywood Savoie (Braylon) and Lauren Haywood; great-grandchildren, Tanner Poulan Thibodeaux, Oliver Louviere and Rilee Thibodeaux.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clebe and Fabiola LeBlanc Huval; brother, Milton “Pop-Pit” Huval; and one grandson, Dayne Thibodeaux.

Our family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana.
