Myrtle Oubre

St. Martinville – A Memorial Service was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Myrtle Oubre, 95, who passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home. 

A Rosary was prayed at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Pellerin Funeral Home. 

Father Ed Degeyter officiated the services. Inurnment followed at St. Michael Cemetery Mausoleum.

Myrtle was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville. She prayed the Rosary daily. Myrtle ran Oubre’s Bakery in St. Martinville for many years, where she was known for her famous brownies. After they closed, she went to work at Walmart in St. Martinville for 25 years until their closure.

Myrtle enjoyed playing Bourée, going to the casino and watching soap operas and EWTN. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

She is survived by sons, Harvey Oubre (Lena) and Tim Oubre (Deanie); daughters, Irene Melancon (Tom), Patricia Blanchard (Glynn) and Paula Fuselier (Byron Sr.); sister, Helen Romano; grandchildren, Sharon Melancon, Jeff Melancon, Brett Melancon, Bryan Blanchard, Jerry Blanchard, Kealey Oubre, Shara Guidry, Brai Ronsonet, Byron “BJ” Fuselier Jr., Lana Thibodeaux and Rico Oubre, 18 great-grandchildren;, and two great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dolza “Kido” Laviolette and Laura “MeMe” Laviolette; brother, Eddie Laviolette Sr.; son-in-law, Les Melancon; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Oubre. 

Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
