Mary Guidry Dauphine

Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mary Helen Guidry Dauphine, 85, who passed away on August 25, 2018, at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Visiting hours were observed at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday and continued at 7 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday. A rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
Reverend Gregory Cormier officiated at the Funeral Mass. Reading the scriptures were Ashley Melancon and Betty Guidry. Serving as gift bearers were her granddaughters, Danielle, Sara and Denielle, along with her great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ayden, AnnaGrace, Zoey, Adelyn, Ashlyn, Beau and Brennen. Music was provided by Pope Huval and members of the St. Joseph Catholic Church Choir.
Pallbearers werbe her six grandsons, John, Garrett, Gentry, Kale, Payton and Jake.
Interment followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Cecilia.
Mary lived her life for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also lived and loved to teach and care for others. Mary touched the hearts and minds of a community of children.
She retired from the St. Martin Parish School System and was also the former owner and operator of Mary’s Learning Center. Mary was a devout Catholic who taught Catholic religion for 50 years and also volunteered for her church, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, until her death. She attended Mass and prayed the rosary on a daily basis. Mary was also a Lay Minister for the sick of her community and St. Agnes Nursing Home. She cared and cooked for the sick members of her family and also for members of her community. Mary was a loyal and faithful servant of Our God, Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Blessed Mother. She lived and gave of her life selflessly, always giving and never expecting anything in return.
Mary is survived by her children, Kenneth Dauphiné (Tina), Mona Dauphiné Savoie and Lisa Dauphiné Savant; her grandchildren, John Dauphine (Sarahgail) and Danielle McManus (Justin ), Gentry Huval and Payton Huval, Kale Savoie (Denielle), Jake Savoie, Garrett Savant (Lauren) and Ashley Savant Melancon (Blake); her great-grandchildren, Gavyn and Ayden Dauphine, future grandchild Jaycee McManus, Zoey and Beau Melancon, AnnaGrace and Adelyn Bonvillian, Audrey Savant, ans Ashlyn Baudin and Brennen Savoie.
She is also survived by her brother, John Harry Guidry Sr.; her nephew, John Harry (Peanut) Guidry; her brother-in-law, Leroy Dauphiné; and her many nieces, nephews and cousins of the Guidry and Dauphine family.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, J. C. Dauphiné; and her infant daughter, Frances. We find comfort in knowing that they are together again. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Philozie and Ades Guidry; and her nephews, Phillip and Jerome Guidry, whom she loved as her own.
Mary loved spending time with her friends from Irene School of Dance Exercise Group, Breaux Bridge, and the Ladies Altar Society, St, Joseph Church, Cecilia. The family would like to thank them for their friendship and the joy and laughter you brought to our Mom.
A very special thank you to Betty Guidry and John Harry Guidry Jr. for their love, support and assistance, and Dr. Jeanne Theriot for her compassionate care and attention given to her during her time of need.
