Marie ‘Minnie’ Devillier

October 11, 2022

 

Leonville – A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday October 14, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville for Marie Minnie Devillier, age 90, who passed away on October 11, 2022, at Opelousas General Hospital. 

Entombment was held at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church Mausoleum in Leonville. 

The Rev. Father Darren Eldridge, pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church, officiated at the service.

A lifelong resident of Leonville and St. Landry Parish, Marie Minnie Devillier was born on August 6, 1932, the daughter of Joseph Tilden and Leonie Marks Devillier. She was a graduate of Port Barre High School and T. H. Harris Vocational Technical School. 

In her professional career, she served a lengthy and exemplary term of employment for the Louisiana Department of Public Safety retiring as the manager of the St. Landry Parish Division of Motor Vehicles. 

Minnie was a parishioner of St. Leo The Great Catholic Church and a member of the St. Leo The Great Altar Society, Woodmen of the World Lodge 501, the Leonville Helping Homemakers Club, and the St. Landry Council on Aging. Minnie was fond of watching sports on TV, especially the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers, tending her flowers, quilting, and travel with her friends

She is survived by her nephews Larry Devillier, Jim Devillier, Keyth Devillier, Phillip Devillier, and Gerald Wyble, and her nieces Emelie Wyble Soileau, Rose Mary Devillier Horne, Jackie Devillier Thompson, Pam Devillier Dawson, and Meryl Devillier Trahan, and also numerous great nephews and great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Tilden Devillier and Leonie Marks Devillier, her brothers Louis Valerie and Raoul Devillier, sisters Alzier Devillier Wyble and Leonie Devillier, her nephews Carroll Wyble and Leon Aaron Wyble, and nieces Maxine Wyble Morgan, Cherry Devillier Cauthron and Patricia Devillier Hart.

Visiting hours were observed at the Parish Hall of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A Rosary was recited in the Parish Hall beginning at 12:30 p.m.
