Lydia Guidry

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Lydia Guidry, 91, who passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday and continued on Friday from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
A rosary wase prayed at 6 p.m. on Thursday by Deacon Perry Guidry.
Rev. Stephen Pellessier officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Alexi Stelly and Madison Stelly. Gift Bearers were Kelsey Zeringue and Ashlie Theriot.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Lydia loved working in her garden, camping with her husband, and sharing her good cooking at Easter time, which was her favorite holiday. She participated in the Senior Olympics for many years and was a bronze medal winner, not once, but many times in different divisions. In her spare time, you could find her visiting with other residents while playing bingo and other activities.
She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Euline Zeringue of Breaux Bridge, Janelle Mouton of Breaux Bridge and Cynthia Melancon and husband Michael of Breaux Bridge; brother, Fred Theriot of Lafayette; sisters, Lilly Guidry and husband Fred of New Orleans and Thelma Domingue and husband Curtis of Lafayette; grandchildren, Angela Lanphier (Mike), Ginger Schneider (Bruce), Jennifer Smith (Lyle), Kristy Frederick (Rusty), Julie Theriot (Wayne), Cory Zeringue (Kerri), Tyler Melancon (Christina), and Ryan Melancon (Amber), 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hurbert and Edith Guidry Theriot; husband, Andrew Guidry; and son-in-law, Dave Zeringue brother, Harris Theriot and his wife, Louise; and sister, Marilyn Seneca.
Pallbearers were Michael Melancon, Tyler Melancon, Ryan Melancon, Cory Zeringue, Fred Theriot and Rusty Frederick.
Honorary pallbearers were Fred Guidry and Curtis Domingue.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home for the care and attention given to Lydia during her time of need.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
