Lona Guidry

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Lona Guidry, 90, who passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Summerhouse Park Provence - Senior Living in Slidell.

Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary was prayed at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Fr. Bill Melancon officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.

Lona was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and was a member of a local rosary group and the VFW. She loved quilting, crocheting, cooking, and shopping. Lona was a very family-oriented woman, who will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her son, Bucky Lynn Guidry (Carol); her daughter, Tamara DesOrmeaux; grandchildren, Carter Guidry and Mairin Guidry; brother, Berlie Latiolais; and her sisters, Gertie Angelle and Shirley LaFleur (John).

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ames Antoine Guidry; and her parents, Antoine and Brigette L. Latiolais. 

Pallbearers were Larry Carmouche, John Lafleur, Gary Theriot, Bryan Angelle, Ricky Breaud and Thomas Latiolais.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
