Rev. Keith Landry officiated at the Funeral Service. Interment followed at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Henderson.
Leroy was born on February 3, 1926, one of 12 children born to Ladice and Merida Courville Dauphiné. He was a WWII veteran who proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy - Asiatic Pacific - SEABEES (35th Special U.S. Naval Construction Battalion).
Like most of his generation who grew up working hard, he hated being idle and was adept at solving whatever tasks and challenges that arose. He was a retired farmer who was happiest when he was outside on his tractor or tending to his animals, vegetables, and homestead. After he retired from sugar cane farming, he spent ten years working for the Atchafalaya Levee Board, which allowed him to continue working outdoors keeping the levee trimmed of grass.
In his later years, Leroy enjoyed giving tractor rides to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was good provider who was always willing to share whatever he had with family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his two sons, Glenwood (Carole) Dauphiné and Dwayne Dauphiné; his daughter, Connie Dauphiné; his two grandchildren, Dr. Jeanne (Shane) Theriot and Adam Dauphiné; his four step-grandchildren, Kasha (Jude) Bodin, Jerek (Meagan) Johnson, Tanner (Haley) Johnson and Ryan (Tammy) Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Jonah, Zachary, Kaleb, Josie and Elijah Theriot; and ten step-great grandchildren, Owen and Raegan Bodin, Aida-Lyse, Baya, Ethan, Sophia, Silas, Elliana, Ariella and Horace Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lula Mae Landry Dauphiné; granddaughter, Marcie Dauphiné; his parents, Ladice and Merida Courville Dauphiné; five brothers, Paul, Simon, Bussey, Thomas and J.C. Dauphiné; and six sisters, Belzire Dauphiné, Estella Boyer, Yola Dejean, Yolinda Landry, Bertha Savoy, and his twin sister Lillian Robertson.
