Kenneth ‘Pete’ Jude Berard

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Kenneth “Pete” Jude Berard, 56, who passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continued on Friday from 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday by Deacon Ken Soignier.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Tessa Berard and Addy Simoneaux. Gift Bearers were Dawn Prioux, Tammy Hulin and Trisha Reed.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Pete was a farmer all of his life and loved farming. For the past six years, Pete was working for the St. Martin Parish Government as a heavy equipment operator. He loved, crawfishing, writing songs, singing, watching wrestling and golf while relaxing, playing solitaire, camping and cooking for his family and friends. Pete was the life of the party and everyone knew it when he walked through door, he would light up the room instantly.
He will be remembered for his wonderful personality, kindness, love for his family, and last but not least, he was the best at telling jokes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tracey Calais Berard of Breaux Bridge; son, Kutter Jude Berard of Breaux Bridge; sister and godparents, Catherine Poche and husband Roy of Catahoula; sisters, Molly Berard of Breaux Bridge, Arlene Matte and husband Roland of St. Martinville and Tessa Berard of Breaux Bridge; brothers, Douglas Berard and wife Della of Breaux Bridge, Jeffery Berard and wife Laura of Breaux Bridge, Dane Berard and wife Mary of Breaux Bridge and Phillip Berard and wife Chicken of Parks; and his godchild, Addy Simoneaux of St. Martinville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Judith Melancon Berard.
Pallbearers were Kale Berard, Brady Berard, Corey LeBlanc, Chris Poche, Colby Rivet and Mickey Calais.
Honorary pallbearers were Douglas Berard, Jeffrey Berard, Dane Berard, Phillip Berard and Roy Poche.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
