Katie Mae (Romero) Moore

Arp, Texas – Katie Mae (Romero) Moore, our beloved Sister, Momma, Granny, GG and Friend crossed over into Glory Friday evening, October 22, 2021.

Katie was born June 4, 1936, in St. Martinville, Louisiana to Robley and Alzire Henry Romero.

Katie’s had a flair to write a column for the Overton Press, known as Granny’s Attic. She was an expert from the canning of the fruit of her garden; and she gave cases of it away. She cared for people with passionate love: and all the school students called her “Granny.” She collected memorabilia for decades, to fulfill her dream for Arp to have a museum for children to learn history and the old folks reminisce.

Family that went before were her brother, Bobbie Romero; her parents, Robley Romero and Alzire (Henry) Romero; her daughter, Jerri Lynn Bitar; her husband, Jerry Moore; sisters, Mary Lane Romero and Mabel Romero; and her grandson, John Reuben Jones.

She is survived by four daughters, Theresa (Donnie) Jones, Becky (Allan) Orr, Mary (Clifton) Mire and Jonnie (Hubert) Buford. Her surviving siblings are Gene (Evelyn) Romero, Donnie Romero, Clyde (Gail) Romero and Lorraine (Red) Landry.

She is known to ten grandchildren as “Granny,” 22 great-grandchildren as “GG,” and Rhett, her great-great-grandson.

Funeral services for Katie Moore will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Lakeview Community Church, Tyler, Texas, with Pastors Paul Rains and Jerry Hanson. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Pallbearers will be Clif Mire III, “Bubba” John Davis, Tyler Allmon, Jaxon Jones, Chris Dorsey and Ryan “Hank” Kirby.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Donnie Romero, Gene Romero, CJ Romero, Red Landry and Bud Calicutt.
