Juanita Delahoussaye Martin

St. Martinville – A private Funeral Mass was held at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Juanita Delahoussaye Martin, 94, who passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

Rev. Bill Melancon officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.

Juanita was born on October 8, 1927, in St. Martinville, Louisiana. She was a devout Catholic and a faithful parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church.  

She is survived by her son, Reid Martin of St. Martinville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Joseph Martin Jr.; son, James Joseph Martin III; parents, Ignace and Laura Gutekunst Delahoussaye; grandchild, James “Jimmy” Joseph Martin IV; six brothers, Ivan Delahoussaye, Charlie Delahoussaye, Alfred Delahoussaye, Harry Delahoussaye, Clarence Delahoussaye and Ward Delahoussaye; and two sisters, Ruth Delahoussaye and Lena Butcher. 

Pallbearers were Brendon Lanerie, Daniel Dugas, Clyde Acres, John Delahoussaye, Cole Riley and Dennis Sweeney.

Her son would like to extend special thanks to Betty Judice and Lou August, as well as Hope Hospice, for the compassionate care given to his mother.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to: Hope Hospice, 301 East Kaliste Saloom Rd., Ste. 201, Lafayette, LA 70058.

Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
