John Cecil ‘So’ Savoy

Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 3 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for John C. Savoy, 82, who passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
A rosary was prayed at 1 p.m. on Monday.
Rev. Gregory Cormier officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Scriptures were read by Cindy Huval and Sheron Delahoussaye.
Gift Bearers were Sheila Hebert, Geraldine Angelle, Peggy Angelle and Simone Cohn.
Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
John honorably served his country in the United States Army National Guard. John worked all of his life; he worked 27 years as Captain of The Helen G. tug boat, 18 years as Operations Manager for Seafood International, and 19 years for Cecilia Water Corporation as Plant Manager. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, but making wine and Chow Chow was his absolute favorite. John will be remembered for his work ethic, and the love he had for his family.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Delsie Savoy of Cecilia; daughters, Cheryl Guidry and husband Bruce, and Connie Savoy; sister, Aimee Huval and husband Harry; grandchildren, Ty Guidry and spouse Kendale, Trey Guidry and spouse Jenaye, and Tayler Savoy; great-grandchildren, Londyn Guidry, Hunter Guidry, Rylie Morse, Levi Guidry and Isla Guidry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Noemie Hebert Savoy; brother, Percy Savoy; and sisters, Odelle Huval and Bunice Angelle.
Pallbearers were Ty Guidry, Trey Guidry, Tayler Savoy, William Savoy, Andre’ Huval and Reilly Trahan.
Honorary pallbearers were Harry Huval, Cecil Angelle and Harold Champagne.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nursing staff of Lafayette General Hospital, and the Carpenter House for their compassion and outstanding care that was given during their time of need.
