Jessie Bienvenu

St. Martinville – A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Jessie R. Bienvenu, 103, who passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family. 

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue on Saturday from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. 

Interment will follow at Methodist Cemetery in St. Martinville.

Jessie was the founding organizer of the St. Martinville Garden Club and was a lifelong member. Because of her love for gardening and flowers, she was always on the judging committee for the surrounding areas.  Jessie was a licensed florist for many years and enjoyed decorating. She was presented the Key to the City of St. Martinville by Mayor Thomas Nelson. 

Jessie enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, rescuing animals, and most of all, helping those in need. She will be remembered as a kind and intelligent woman who served as the Orator of the St. Martinville Longfellow-Evangeline State Park and was known as the lady of history.

She is survived by her sons, Wesley Bienvenu (Karen), J.R. Bienvenu (Nina), Dennis Bienvenu (Liz) and Raymond Bienvenu (Nadean); and her daughter-in-law, Carol Bienvenu. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Bienvenu Jr.; son, Steve Bienvenu; parents, Raymond and Laura Rice Reasoner; brother, Raymond Reasoner; and her sisters, Francis Reasoner and Carol Reasoner.  

Pallbearers will be Dennis Bienvenu, Raymond Bienvenu, Scott Bienvenu, Jason Bienvenu, Brice Bienvenu and Wesley Bienvenu.
