Jasper honorably served his country as a Marksman on the rifle team of the Army National Guard. A master of many trades, commercial fishing was his livelihood as well as being a driller in the oil industry. Jasper loved the woods and river and you probably saw him in the Basin often. He spread his knowledge to many and farmed and fished his pond till he was 88! From cotton to veggies, to crawfish and shrimp, he was a self-made woodsman.
Jasper was avid fan of LSU, the Saints and the Breaux Bridge Tigers. He too was able to share the spotlight on television where he was featured in the 1997 Hallmark movie, “The Old Man.” Jasper loved cooking for his family and entertaining them with laughter. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his three daughters, Kathleen (Michael) Touchet of Breaux Bridge, Sandra (Wayne) Gaddy of Moss Bluff and Penny Dauterive (Richie Broussard) of Breaux Bridge; son, Ken DeVillier of Breaux Bridge; six grandchildren, Shayna Guidry, Brice Fitzgerald, Skipper Touchet, Falyn Alexander, Aubriel Dauterive and Joseph Dauterive; step grandchildren, Austin Gaddy and Rikki Gaddy Howerton; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Dauphine Devillier; parents, Wade and Bertha Devillier; son, Rickey Devillier; brother, Ravis Devillier; and his sister, Ida Johnson.
