Jane Broussard Comeaux

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Jane Broussard Comeaux, 85, who passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday and continue on Friday from 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Fr. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Elizabeth Comeaux and Dr. Kate Degatur. Gift Bearers will be Emily Hundley and Kallie Degatur.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Jane was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana to the late Gilman and Armide Trosclair Broussard on November 24, 1933. She received her Master’s in Education from S.L.I. and was a teacher in the St. Martin and Lafayette Parish school systems for 20 years, prior to her retirement.
A devout Catholic, Jane was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where she taught religious education classes for many years and was a faithful member of the St. Bernard Adult Choir. As a pastime, she enjoyed researching genealogy, painting, reading and traveling.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Berkebile (Jerry), Deborah Degatur (Dr. Warren), Marcus Comeaux (Louise), Karen Barber and Michael Comeaux (Michelle); 11 grandchildren, Dr. Benjamin Degatur (Jennifer), Charles Degatur (Savri), Matt Berkebile (Lauren), Emily Hundley (Erik), Kim Leach (William), Dr. Kate Degatur, Kallie Degatur, Ammique Comeaux, Remy Comeaux, Elizabeth Comeaux and Ryan Comeaux; five great-grandchildren, Caroline Degatur, Charlotte Degatur, Luke Degatur, Jane Degatur and Hutton Berkebile; and her sister, Doris Calais.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Winfred Comeaux; her brother, Roy Broussard; and her sister, Vivian Cichowski.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Benjamin Degatur, Charles Degatur, Matt Berkebile, Remy Comeaux, Ryan Comeaux and Erik Hundley.
The family would like to thank the Brookdale Lafayette employees for their loving care of their mother.
