Gregory ‘Jap’ Sam

Breaux Bridge – A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Gregory “Jap” Sam, 61, who passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at his residence.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Rev. Darren Benoit, pastor of Union Baptist Church of St. Martinville, will officiate at the Funeral Service.

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.

Mr. Sam, better known as “Jap” to his family and friends, was employed with Breaux Brothers for 29 years, as a welder, and as a maintenance supervisor with the City of Breaux Bridge for the last four years. Jap enjoyed lifting weights, drawing, painting, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lorena Dalcourt Sam; four daughters, Shanaka Dalcourt, Jasmine Dalcourt, Dwanna Sam and Lindsey Sam; one son, Todd Paul (Sherice); two grandchildren, Janyrah’ Hypolite and Calvin Charles; two great-grandchildren, Malan Zeno and Caeson Goodie; three sisters, Mindie Duhon (Lawrence), Melinda Sam and Billie Jane Marshall (Kelton Marshall); two brothers, William Sam Jr. (Theresa) and Graylin Sam; brothers-in-law, Allen Paul, Donald Williams Sr. and Russell Narcisse Sr; and three sisters-in-law, Lillian Davis (Leo), Edith Charles and Jenny Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sam Sr. and Cecile Thomas Sam; and two sisters-in-law, Vivian Paul and Lydia Paul Williams.

Pallbearers will be Todd Paul, Nolan Charles, Clifton Hypolite, Courtlon Cyprien, Kevin Mallery and Andrew Demouchet.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
