Gerald Joseph Blanchard

Breaux Bridge – A Memorial Service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Gerald Joseph Blanchard, 81, who passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehab Center.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert officiated at the Memorial Service. Inurnment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Gerald honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He was an avid LSU football fan and he loved going on cruises with his wife, Anita, going to the casino, and playing golf. Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family, but more importantly he looked forward to drinking coffee everyday with his best friend, Simon Marks.
Gerald will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anita Blanchard; four sons, Dexter Blanchard, Lynn Blanchard, Dean Blanchard and Jude Blanchard; brother, Vernon “Sukit” Blanchard; sister, Agnes Blanchard; best friend, Simon Marks; seven grandchildren, Zachary Blanchard, Georgia Blanchard, Tyler Blanchard, Austin Blanchard, Marley Blanchard, Mckenzie Blanchard and Josh Blanchard.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alberie Blanchard; mother, Octavie Dumatrait Blanchard; and five brothers, Cecil Blanchard, Ernest Blanchard, Darrell “Black” Blanchard, Sam Blanchard and Alvin “T White” Blanchard.
Honorary Pallbearer was Simon Marks.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
