George M. Laviolette Jr.

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for George M. Laviolette Jr., 86, who passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A rosary was prayed at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday by Father Ed Degeyter.
Father Bill Melancon officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
George was a 1953 graduate of St. Martinville High School, where he excelled in football. He was a member of the St. Martinville Lions Club and the Jaycees.
George was employed by MetLife for 47 years as an Insurance Consultant and was a Certified Life Underwriter. He was honored by MetLife as a President’s Club member at locations in Nevada, Hawaii, Florida and Mexico.
He was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed playing basketball, softball, football and most of all, golf. George loved coaching little league and traveling with his wife, Sue. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sue Laviolette; daughter, Tesa Laviolette (James Sword); sons, Mike Laviolette (Renetta) and Steve Laviolette (Elaine); sister, Lucy Toups; brother, Raymond Laviolette; grandchildren, Corey Pritchard (Kimberly), Beau Laviolette (Kelly), Tiffany Laviolette and Rusty Laviolette (Mandy); and great-grandchildren, Abigail Pritchard, Peyton Laviolette, Paxton Laviolette, Jackson Laviolette and Jaden Laviolette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Laviolette Sr. and Lena Theriot Laviolette; sisters, Verler Frederick and Lois Prosper; and daughter-in-law, Reneé Laviolette.
Pallbearers were Rusty Laviolette, Beau Laviolette, Corey Pritchard, Troy Toups, Philip Frederick and James Sword.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in his name to Community of Jesus Crucified - 103 Railroad Ave., St. Martinville, LA 70582.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
