Genevieve H. Huval

Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Genevieve H. Huval, 92, who passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, and continued on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Monday by Deacon Rickey Huval.
Rev. Gregory Cormier officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial. Reader was Deacon Rickey Huval. Musical Selections were provided by Terry Huval.
Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Genevieve was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for many years. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, working in her garden and cooking. Genevieve was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, their light remains.”
Genevieve was a light to many people. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Maxine Huval, Dixie Huval Poche and Ginger Huval; sisters, Lou Ella Huval and Suzanne Roberts; grandchildren, Reneé Poche, Roby Poche and Natalie Guidry and husband Jared; great-grandchildren, Orie Savant, Jenna Savant, Riley Guidry and Easton Guidry; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 14 years, Jesse Huval; father, Galbert Huval Sr.; mother, Ella Berard Huval; brothers, Galbert “Dado” Huval Jr., Edwin “Din” Huval and Paul Huval; sisters, Alice Huval Guilbeau and Ruth Huval Guidry; brothers-in-law, Murphy Guilbeau, Percy Huval, Ralph Roberts, Mantor “Pacquet” Guidry, Dalton Guidry, Thiers “Pete” Bernard, Steve Fontenot and Gus Huval; sisters-in-law, Joyce Hebert Huval, Nita Lasseigne Huval, Velma Huval, Carrie “Kate” Fontenot, Eunice “Noonie” Huval Bernard and Bertha Huval Guidry; grandchild, Monique Huval; and son-in-law, Michael Dale Huval.
Pallbearers were Carroll Huval, Darrell Huval, Orie Savant, Snapper Dore, Tony Huval and Keith Roberts.
Honorary pallbearer was Rocky Guidry.
The family wishes to extend a thank you to the staff at J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home for their care and compassion for Mrs. Genevieve.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia was in charge of arrangements.
