Ernest ‘Monique’ Cormier Sr.

Breaux Bridge – A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Ernest “Monique” Cormier Sr., 87, who passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 in Baton Rouge. 

Father Garrett McIntyre will officiate the Memorial Mass. Inurnment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery #2.

Ernest lived a fulfilling life, guided by his strong values and unwavering faith. He proudly served in the National Guard for 13 years, reaching the rank of sergeant, and exemplifying integrity and dedication. His commitment to his country was matched only by his devotion to his family. A devout Catholic, Ernest was a long-time parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

Ernest had a passion for gardening and raising his beloved animals. Alongside his wife, Janelle, Ernest enjoyed camping trips, cruises, and traveling. Their love for each other and their shared experiences will forever be cherished.

Ernest was an amazing carpenter and had the ability to fix anything. He was a “gentle giant,” who had incredible work ethic which he instilled in his children. Ernest was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Janelle Guidry Cormier; sons, Ernest Cormier Jr. (Susie) and Bryan Cormier (Jackie); daughters, Katy Angelle (Clint) and Tammy Cormier (Alex); grandchildren, Bryce Cormier, Alex Cormier, Colby Angelle, Kayla Lanclos (Kyle), Tamra Dauphinet, Tanya Dauphinet and Tyler Dauphinet; great-grandchildren, Kollin Lanclos, Kole Lanclos, Aniha Angelle, Tori Dauphinet, Everleigh Dauphinet and Dax Burridge; and brother-in-law, Marcus Guidry (Shirley). 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerard and Margaret Belaire Cormier; brothers, Simon Cormier, Jim Cormier and Jerome Cormier; sisters, Inez Patin, Germaine Brasseaux and Emile Cormier; parents-in-law, Evans and Elvie Guidry; brothers-in-law, Jules Guidry, Steven Guidry and John Allen Guidry; and sisters-in-law, Agnes Deville and Eula Mae Angelle. 

Pellerin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
