Edith Marie Angelle

Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Edith Marie Angelle, 96, who passed away on October 22, 2023 at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home. 

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 12 p.m. on Wednesday. 

Father Greg Cormier will officiate at the funeral Mass. Readers will be Alex Touchet and Hailey Guidry. Gift bearers will be Kimi Braus, Kae Angelle, Nancy LeBlanc and Amiee Domingue. Angelle Godeaux will be an Altar server.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. 

Edith was born on July 6, 1927 in Cecilia. In her career, Edith worked alongside her husband, using her artistic skills to bring beauty and warmth into the homes he built.

Additionally, Edith spent 30 years as a substitute teacher at Cecilia Senior High School, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of her students. Her patience, resilience, and unwavering dedication made her a cherished figure in the school community.

Edith also served as a receptionist for esteemed doctors Earl Morrough and Bobby Morrow. Her warm smile and kind heart greeted patients who sought comfort in their medical journeys. Edith’s compassionate nature radiated through her interactions with others; she brought comfort to those who needed it most.

She dedicated her time and energy to the Pokeno Club, where she found companionship and formed lasting friendships. Edith also played an active role in the Lady Altar Society, nurturing her faith and contributing to the spiritual well-being of those around her. 

Furthermore, she was an unwavering fan of the New Orleans Saints football team – a testament to her loyalty and passion.

Edith will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Lawrence Angelle Sr.; sons, Lawrence “L.J.” Angelle Jr., Eddie Angelle spouse Chris, and Kim Angelle spouse Karen; daughter, Geralyn Thomassee spouse Keith; her 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchilren,

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Elmire Calais; brother, Gussie Calais; sisters, Solange Huval, Theresa Quebedeaux, Manola Schexnider and Ida Mae Calais; twin granddaughters, Mary and Ann Angelle; great-granddaughter, Chloe Angelle; and daughters-in-law, Debbie Angelle and Dana Angelle. 

Pallbearers will be Lawrence Angelle Jr., Eddie Angelle, Kim Angelle, Keith Thomassee, Ryan Angelle, Corey Angelle and Kevin Angelle.
