Dorothy Pierret Champagne

Breaux Bridge – A Funeral Service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Dorothy Pierret Champagne, 80, who passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday.

A rosary was prayed at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Deacon Ken Soignier officiated at the Funeral Service. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.

Dorothy was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge. She was a member of a Rosary Group, as well as the Catholic Daughters. 

Dorothy was the owner and operator of Jack and Jill Daycare for 20 years. She loved children and she took care of many of her family members kids. Dorothy loved to get out and go, especially if it meant shopping with her friends. She enjoyed arts and crafting, painting, and baking. Dorothy was an amazing baker; she baked many wedding cakes for many families over the years. 

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and sister, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard Champagne; sons, Duane Champagne, Chad Champagne and Richie Champagne; brother, Paul Pierret, Jr. (Martha); and sister, Brenda Bergeron (Chester).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Pierret Sr. and Amenthe Lasseigne Pierret; and brother, Weston Pierret. 

Pallbearers were Mark Melancon, Brock Melancon, Randy Hebert, Nicholas Bergeron, Scout Melancon and Lochlan Harman.

Honorary pallbearers were Duane Champagne, Chad Champagne, Richie Champagne and Paul Pierret Jr. 

Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
