Dolores C. Johnson

Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Dolores C. Johnson, 83, who passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home.

A visitation took place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continued on Friday from 7 a.m. until time of service. 

A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Rev Joseph Brasseaux officiated at the Funeral Mass and Deacon Ken Soignier assisted. Readers were Lauren Credeur and Karly Beaty.  Gift bearers were her daughters.

Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Dolores Johnson, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away on August 29, 2023. She was a kind-hearted woman who brightened the lives of those around her with her generosity and warm spirit. Dolores will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Born on January 5, 1940, Dolores lived a life filled with love and compassion. She approached every interaction with empathy and understanding, always willing to lend a listening ear or offer a helping hand. Dolores possessed a unique ability to kindly express her disagreements.

Dolores had an incredible passion for nurturing nature’s beauty. She found peace and joy in working in her garden, meticulously tending to each plant with care and dedication. Cutting her grass and maintaining a picturesque yard brought her immense satisfaction as she reveled in the vibrant colors and fragrant blooms that surrounded her.

Music held a special place in Dolores’ heart. Singing in the Henderson and Cecilia choirs allowed her soul to soar freely as she harmonized with fellow singers. Moments spent rehearsing and performing were filled with sheer bliss for Dolores; every note she sang resonated with genuine passion and unwavering devotion.

Dolores leaves behind cherished memories that will forever remain etched in our hearts. Her legacy lives on through the laughter shared during family gatherings, the wisdom imparted upon loved ones, and the kindness she showered upon everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.

As we mourn Dolores’ passing, may we find solace in the beautiful memories she gifted us. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit will forever remain a source of inspiration. Though our hearts ache with loss, let us celebrate her remarkable journey and the love she shared abundantly.

She is survived by her son, Perry (Pamela) Johnson; daughters, Elvinia (Gary) Johnson, Wendy (Pat) Angelle and Libbie Johnson; grandchildren, Kyrstal (Jerod) Brown, Karly (Jake) Beaty, Denton and Molly Angelle; and her great-grandchild, Wayne Brown.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Johnson; parents, Dupre and Ada Bouillion Credeur; son, Kelly Johnson; sister, Sarah Landry; and her brother, Russell Credeur.

Pallbearers were Denton Angelle, Molly Angelle Justin Bain, Dustin Buckner, Jake Beaty and Jerod Brown.

Pellerin Funeral Home  was in charge of arrangements.
