Dennis Joseph Gaudet

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Dennis Joseph Gaudet, 82, who passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Lafayette. 

A visitation took place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Friday, September 2, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continued on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 8  a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

A rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022, by the Men’s Rosary Group of New Iberia. 

Father Jason Vidrine officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers and Gift bearers were his granddaughters, Emily Begnaud, Jessi Lasalle, Hannah Gaudet, Lauren Bergeron, Kati Menard, Alayna Sonnier, and Suzzette Brasseaux.

Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery.

Dennis was a devout Catholic and life-long parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville. He started his career in the sugarcane industry in 1968 and worked for Broussard Cane Equipment for over 40 years. It was a job he loved and lived for. Above all, his family always came first. He found the most joy with a house full of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gathered together to enjoy some good food and quality time together. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his wife and the love of his life for 60 years, Irmalene Theriot Gaudet; sons, Todd Gaudet (Renette) and Chad Gaudet (Mindy); daughters, Alison Boatright (Jay), Paula Sonnier (Randy) and Janet Lasalle (David); brothers, Clifton Gaudet, Louis Gaudet, Raymond Gaudet and Joseph Gaudet; sisters, Genieve Bateman, Joyce Gondron, Shirley Hernandez, and Ethel Rodriguez; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lelia Gaudet; sisters, Hilda Gaudet and Lillian Fontenot; and in-laws, Woodrow and Luda Theriot.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Chris Boatright, Cy Gaudet, Spencer Sonnier, Rene Boatright, Austin Gaudet, and Zachary Gaudet.

Honorary pallbearers were his best friends, Nolan Doré and Bernard Laviolette, Sr.

Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
