Charles Lewis New

Breaux Bridge – A Funeral Service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Charles Lewis New, 81, who passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at his residence.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and continued on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
A rosary wase prayed at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre officiated at the Funeral Service. Readers were Cindy Franz and Jan Neveu.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. New honorably served his country in the United States Army. As a pastime, he enjoyed spending time outdoors in his garden, hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by his son, Brian (Danica) New of Breaux Bridge; two grandchildren, Courtney New and Ethan New; brother, Truman (Alice) New of Rogers, Texas; two sisters, Louise N. (Terry) Lejeune of St. Martinville and Cora N. Lasseigne of Oxford, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae D. New; father, Elmer Lee New; mother, Myra Lee New; and brothers, Dudley and Jimmy New.
Pallbearers were Leroy Fuselier, Terry Lejeune, Greg Degeyter, Troy Allemond, Pastor Rodney Chitwood and Shane Degeyter.
Honorary pallbearer was Ethan New.
In Mr. New’s memory, donations may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church, 219 E. Bridge St., Breaux Bridge, LA 70517.
