Carl ‘Pazoo’ Dugas

Catahoula – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022, at St. Rita Catholic Church for Carl “Pazoo” Dugas, 83, who passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at his residence.

A visitation was held at Dion Hall on Sunday from 5:30 p..m. to 9 p.m. and continued on Monday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

A rosary was prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Father Bill Melancon officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.

Pazoo was the owner of “Carl’s Barber Shop,” where he was a barber for over 20 years. At the same time, he also owned “Carl’s Western Wear.” He was a business owner in the crawfish industry for more than 40 years (Carl’s Seafood). 

Another passion of Pazoo’s was horses; he bred, raised and raced horses out of his farm called “Champion’s Run.” In his spare time, he loved horse racing, old western movies and spending time with his family and friends. Pazoo cherished the mornings spent with his coffee club every week. 

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Melba Melancon Dugas; daughter, Renee Oubre (Buddy); sons, Marc Dugas (Tammy), Brady Dugas (Robin) and Terril Dugas (Jamie); grandchildren, Ross Dugas (Linzy), Kristen Oubre Durand (Gregg), Alex Oubre (Mandi), Ryan Oubre (Lani), Devin Dugas (Alynn), Drew Dugas (Sidney) and Zane Dugas; great-grandchildren, Khori, Beckett, Saylor, Owen, Sloane, Mary and Claire; and sister-in-law Jeanette Dugas.

He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brittany C. Dugas; parents, Abel Dugas and Therese Chataignier Dugas; brother, Louis Dugas; and parents-in-law, Hubert and Elphie Melancon.

Pallbearers were Ross Dugas, Devin Dugas, Drew Dugas, Alex Oubre, Ryan Oubre and Gregg Durand.

Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Daspit, Palmer “Poppy” Fuselier, Jack-Dale Delhomme and Gene Landry.

Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
