Calice J. Bergeron Jr.

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Calice J. Bergeron Jr., 91, who passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday and continued on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
A rosary was prayed by the Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Rev. Bill Melancon officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Randi Leigh Bonvillian and Trahé Bonvillian.
Interment followed at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Calice was born January 25, 1930. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner and usher at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Calice enjoyed gardening, fishing, repairing and tinkering on different projects. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his three daughters, Suzanne B. Durand (Richard), Paulette B. Bonvillian and Yvonne B. Hebert (Lynn); grandchildren, Robert Durand (Christie), Jason Durand, Jessica Bonvillian, Ross Bonvillian, Travis Bonvillian, Paul Hebert (Amanda), Adrienne H. Ledet (Donald), Amy H. Lukaszeski (Kenneth “Luke”) and April H. Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Karson, Karli and Lexi Durand, Randi Leigh, Trelyn, Trahé and Talia Bonvillian, Koen, Paxton and Emeline Hebert, Aaron Delahoussaye, Jacob and Raymore Ledet, Aleah, Luc and baby Autumn on the way Lukaszeski, Brianna Menard and Cameron Jenkins; and his siblings, Anna Louise Boutte, Lester Bergeron (Gail) and Roy Bergeron (June).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Enola “Red” Douet Bergeron; parents, Kalice and Louise Thibodeaux Bergeron; son, Eric J. Bergeron; infant son, Joseph; brother Francis Bergeron; sister, Gervice B. Douet; and grandson in-law, James Jenkins.
Pallbearers were Robert Durand, Karson Durand, Jason Durand, Paul Hebert, Kenneth Lukaszeski, Lynn Hebert and Donald Ledet.
Honorary pallbearers were all of his grandsons.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Hope Health Care & Hospice, especially his caregivers Jennifer, Linette, “J” and Nicole for the exceptional care given to Calice.
Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
