Bernard Dessens Breaux Sr.

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Bernard Dessens Breaux Sr., 89, who passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until time of service.
A Rosary was prayed at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Fr. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Bernard honorably served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He was employed with Texaco for 38 years, and during that time he became an oil scout leader.
After retiring, he volunteered his time at the nursing home and with the Sheriff’s Department. A devout Catholic, he was a faithful parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church.
Bernard loved spending time with his family and enjoyed preparing breakfast for them. He enjoyed being outdoors cutting grass and working in his barn. As a pastime, he also enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, and swimming.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 52 years, Patsy Roesler Breaux; two daughters, Stacia Breaux and Rhonda Mabry (Dewayne); two sons, Bernard Breaux Jr. (Sharlett Shaver) and Dennis Wayde Burchfield (Tamara); and four grandchildren, Brandon Mabry (Chun), Bethany Mabry, Kylee Burchfield and Lauren Burchfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile Charles Breaux and Mildred Dessens Breaux; and his daughter, Gina Breaux.
Pallbearers will be A. Matt Roesler, Charles Roesler, Nancy D. Amburn, Brandon Mabry, Larry Nance and Brent Martin.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
