Andres Pourciaux

08/23/1936-09/07/2023

Andres Pourciaux of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, was surrounded by family as he peacefully went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2023, at the age of 87.

Born August 27, 1936, Andres lived a full and joyful life, having been blessed with a large, close, and supportive extended family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Suzanne Robin Pourciaux; sister, Mable Brasseaux and husband Donnie; brother, Francis Pourciaux and wife Betty; sister-in-law, Rita Pourciaux; children, Juanita Girouard and husband Karl, Kirby James Pourciaux and wife Mary, Melissa Zea and husband Michael, Monica Davis and husband John, Sue Ann (Susie) Duhon and husband Gordon, ans Todd Pourciaux and wife Rachel; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving family members.

Andres was an extremely hard worker and was always the first person to show up to help his family with projects, never needing to be asked. He picked cotton, served in the National Guard, worked on oil rigs, and was even a commercial fisherman before moving to Broussard, Louisiana and settling into a 15 year career with Petroleum Helicopters Inc.

In the mid 90s, Andres and Suzanne fulfilled their dream and moved onto family land in Breaux Bridge for their retirement. He spent his time fishing, cutting grass on his Kubota, and sitting on his porch eating chocolate while drinking a cold Coca Cola or glass of iced tea.

Andres loved to fish. If the weather was right, he could be found in the Basin, filling an ice chest. He loved to fish with his friends and family, but saved his best spots for those he could trust to keep them secret. Many weekends were spent with his wife and children out on Toledo Bend, sleeping in their little pop-up tent. Later, he would share his love for fishing, the reservoir, and, of course, chocolate and Coca-Cola with his grandchildren. And while none of them became doctors, he was extremely proud of them and relished being their Pop.

As a born again Christian, the only thing more important to Andres than his family was his relationship with Jesus Christ. He loved to read his Bible and share the gospel. He and Suzanne prayed for their family daily. Most recently, he attended the First Baptist Church of Carencro. He previously attended both First Baptist Breaux Bridge and First Baptist Broussard.

Andres was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Pourciaux; mother, Emeranthe Dupuis Pourciaux;, brother, Dallas Pourciaux; and grandson, Justin Zea.

The family would like to thank nurse Alyson Champagne and Hospice of Acadiana for their excellent care in his final months.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 16th at The Bridge Fellowship at 2005 Rees Street, Breaux Bridge, LA 70517.

Ya’ll come if ya’ll can bebe.
