Alton Joseph Wiltz

Breaux Bridge – A Funeral Service was held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Alton Joseph Wiltz, 76, who passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at St. Martin Hospital.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert officiated at the Funeral Service.
Alton honorably served his country in the United States Army for seven years. He received his Bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL). Alton was an educator with the St. Martin Parish School system prior to his retirement.
As a pastime, Alton enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and watching sports, meeting new people, and keeping the French culture alive by speaking French to the young and old. He was also involved with the FFA program which helped individuals with skills that they could use in their future. Alton loved teaching so much, that after retirement, he went back as a substitute teacher for 14 years.
He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and students who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Ann Grace Wiltz of St. Martinville; two daughters, Aimee Wiltz Smith of Denham Springs and Kelli (Jeremy) Theriot of Gonzales; son, Kevin Wiltz of Parks; five grandchildren, Elyse (Kalob Bourque) Bordelon, Emma Bordelon, Ethan Bordelon, Alison Theriot and Caroline Theriot; great-grandchild, Noah Bourque; brother, Terry (Helen) Wiltz of Zachary; and sister-in-law, Glenda L. Wiltz of Parks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Emma Courville Wiltz; and brother, Whitney Wiltz.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
