Hazel was the heart of her family and a steady light in the lives of all who knew her. As a devoted wife to Larry for 64 plus years, she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership. As a mother, she nurtured with patience, strength, and unwavering support. Her legacy lives on through her children, children’s spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, each of whom were blessed by her warmth and unconditional love.
Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. A woman of deep devotion, she found comfort and strength in praying the Rosary daily, in weekly adoration, in giving communion to the homebound, and in attending Sunday Mass.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid reader, took pride in her rose garden, and even won Garden of the Month several times. Mondays were set aside to play bridge with her dear group of friends, sharing laughter and friendly competition. She also loved a lively game of Bouray!
She had a sweet, quiet way of making people feel welcome and comfortable in her home, opening her home to family and friends to share her delicious specialty meals: may it be crawfish bisque, crab stew, or a Sunday meal. Her kindness, generosity, and gentle touch have affected many lives and will not be forgotten.
She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Comeaux and Maxine Hollier (Aaron); daughter-in-law, Cindy B. Comeaux; grandchildren, Nicole Zaunbrecher (Tim), Timothy Comeaux (Jenny) and Ashley Hollier; and great- grandchildren, Brice and Mia Zaunbrecher and Elizabeth and Lauren Comeaux.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Comeaux, Sr.; son, Larry Comeaux, Jr.; parents, Alexander and Ella Barras Laperouse; sisters, Lorita Dugas and Helena “Lena” Latiolais; and brother, Allen John Laperouse.
The family would like to thank Hazel’s sitters for the kindness and compassion they gave to our mother. We are deeply grateful to Sandra Martin, Marcella Drake, Susan Davis, Angelia Stevens, Vonda Mitchell, Martha Leger, and Vicky Guidry.
