St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church to celebrate the life of Louis G. Oubre, 81, who passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

A visitation took place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 3:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and continued on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

A Rosary was prayed on Monday evening.

Father Jason Vidrine officiated at the Funeral Mass. Inurnment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.

Born on September 23, 1944, in St. Martinville, Louisiana, Louis lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable stories.

Louis proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life that shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of honor. He often recounted tales of his military days with enthusiasm, blending them with stories of his favorite pastime - baseball. Louis had a vibrant spirit, a love for motorcycles, and an unwavering passion for his beloved LSU Tigers. His joy for life was evident to all who knew him.

Known for his kind heart and generous soul, Louis lived a simple life, always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He cherished moments spent camping in Colorado. Music was another of his great loves, serving as a soundtrack to the many memories he created with loved ones.

Louis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his sisters, Elaine Wright (William) and Jeannine Kelly (Karl); niece and godchild, Angie Bergeron; niece, Brandi Kelly; nephews, Michael Bergeron and Brandon Bergeron; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-greatnieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Oubre, Sr. and Monita Marie Fuselier Oubre; niece, Jennifer Kelly Broussard; and nephew and godchild, Kristopher Kelly.

The family would like to thank Mike Moresi and the ladies at Robichaux Pharmacy for all the kindness they showed to Louis and the family.
