Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for George Erick Degeyter, 65, who passed away on November 7, 2025, at Ochsner Medical Center New Orleans.

A visitation took place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. on Wednesday, and will Thursday. A rosary was be prayed on Wednesday.

Rev. Michael Richard officiated at the funeral service.

Burial followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.

George was known for his love of the outdoors, spending countless hours caring for his lawn, enjoying the satisfaction of cutting grass, and picking pecans. Every morning, he could be found at John’s with the 4:30 a.m. coffee group, where his warm smile and friendly demeanor brought joy to those around him. He cherished his time caring for his mother and shared a special bond with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Loretta Degeyter; mother, Odile Degeyter; children, Jacqueline (Tray) Hernandez and James Fett; grandchildren, Laya and Beau Hernandez; brothers, Daniel (Patricia Hoyt) Degeyter and Carrol (Patsy) Degeyter; and his loving dog, Princess.

He is preceded in death by his father, George Blaise Degeyter.

Pallbearers will be James Fett, Tray Hernandez, Douglas Saintignan, Robert Allemand, Paul Degeyter, and Dwayne Degeyter.

Honorary pallbearer will be Beau Hernandez.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge (337-332-2111) was in charge of arrangements.
