October 22, 1925 – August 29, 2025

A private graveside service will be held for Raymond “Eboo” Bienvenu at the Methodist Cemetery located on Resweber Street in St. Martinville, Louisiana.

A native of St. Martinville, Eboo loved duck hunting in the basin, took pride in working in his yard, led Boy Scout Troop 27 for many years, and was a devoted LSU football fan. After graduating from St. Martinville Senior High, Eboo joined the Army Air Forces during World War II as a Navigator, flying missions throughout Europe. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

Eboo is believed to have been the last remaining WWII veteran from St. Martinville. He went on to graduate from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. While at LSU, his claim to fame was being one of the first caretakers of Mike the Tiger. Over the years, he worked in several different fields before retiring from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development in 1993.

Eboo is survived by his sister, Sonja Bienvenu Dupois; his children: Roberta Bienvenu, Raymond Bienvenu Jr. (Candy), Jimbo Bienvenu (Kim), Lin Boudreaux (Kirk), Alicia Bienvenu (Irving), Peter Paul Bienvenu, Douglas Bienvenu (Jeanie), and Michelle Russo (Lee); his daughter-in-law, Tammy Laviolette Bienvenu Theriot (Jason); twenty-three grandchildren; and thirty-six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of over fifty years, Carolyn “Caro” Bulliard Bienvenu; his son, Jason Bulliard Bienvenu; daughters-inlaw, Earline Laviolette Bienvenu (Peter Paul) and Lana Pritchard Bienvenu (Jimbo); his sister, Estelle Bienvenu Labbé; brother, J.C.
