Hazel Vitte Guidry

Hazel Vitte Guidry

Interment was in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev. Travis Abadie, pastor of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, officiated at the services.
A native of Arnaudville, Mrs. Guidry was a devoted parishioner of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church. She lived her retirement years at her beautiful home, on the banks of the Atchafalaya River in Butte La Rose, alongside her husband of nearly 40 years Donald J. Guidry. Her life was a vibrant tapestry of joy, beauty, and kindness. Known for her impeccable style, signature red hair which was always styled, and radiant presence, she brightened every room she entered.
Hazel had a gift for nurturing—whether it was her blooming garden, her beloved pets (especially her Pomeranian Monique, her spicy kitty Pussky, her talkative dancing bird Pretty- Boy), or the lives of those around her. Her heart was always open to helping others, and her home was a place of warmth and celebration— especially on Halloween, her favorite holiday, when her famous gumbo was on the stove simmering and laughter echoing through every room.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. In her early years traveling with her late husband Joseph D. Mott and admiring classic cars. In her later years she loved spending time with her great grand babies, watching her hummingbirds and “piddling” around outdoors. She lived each day with grace, generosity, and unwavering love for her family.
She is survived by her three sons: Donald Joseph Guidry, Jr. of Prairieville, Anthony James Guidry and wife Sophie of Denham Springs, and Randy Paul Guidry and wife Mavis of Gonzales; one sister, Bernice Vitte Knott of Arnaudville; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph D Mott; second husband Donald J. Guidry, Sr; her daughter, Peggy Lee Guidry; her parents, Jules Vitte and Vaniala Lagrange Vitte; her brother, Homer Vitte, Sr.; her sisters, Gladys Vitte Guidry and Eula Mae Vitte Quebedeaux; and her brother-in-law, Wade Knott, Sr.
A rosary was prayed at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Dale Guidry, Kaleb Guidry, Kane Guidry, Brody Brignac, and Cale Dore.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for and supported Hazel. Special thanks to her devoted nieces, Peggy Robin and Madeline Landry, for their daily love and presence; to Marilyn Doré of companionship and care; and to Dr. Kirk Elliot and her great-nephew, Gabe Robin, NP, for their compassionate and dedicated medical care.
Melancon Funeral Home of Arnaudville, 224 Main Street, (337) 754-5725, was in charge of arrangements.
