Maurice - A Liturgy of the Word service was held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Leroy for Dieu Donne “DD” Blanchard, age 92, who passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings. Deacon Keith Duhon of Our Lady of Prompt Succor officiated at the service. Visitation was held on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. until time of services at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice. A Rosary was prayed at the funeral home. Dieu Donne “DD” Blanchard was born on November 10, 1932, in St. Martinville, Louisiana. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, demonstrating his commitment as a Veteran of foreign war. Following his military service, “DD” dedicated over 38 years to working for McDermott. His extensive career allowed him to travel the world both for work and pleasure. An avid fisherman, he found joy in spending time on his houseboat fishing and crawfishing. He also enjoyed day trips to the casino. He held a deep appreciation for his Cajun culture and had a passion for speaking Cajun French. “DD” will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed.

“DD” is survived by his children, Danny Blanchard (Elaine) of Houma, Dean Blanchard (Linda) of Breaux Bridge, Doreen Blanchard of Breaux Bridge, Tina Hebert of Breaux Bridge, and Melanie Blanchard of Breaux Bridge; his stepchildren, Christine Jaubert (Joseph Kenneth) of Maurice, Belinda Romero of Maurice, Mitch Romero (Sarah) of Maurice, and Romona Romero (Jack) of Maurice; as well as 12 grandchildren, and 11 step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bridgett Latiolais Blanchard, and Stephen Blanchard; the mother of his children, Leatrice Charpentier; his wife, Jeanette Blanchard; his daughter, Cheryl Champagne; his granddaughter, Ashley Hebert; his son in law, Ron Hebert; his step grandson, Justin Labauve; his brothers, Bootsie Blanchard, and Gary Blanchard; as well as his sister, Donne Dieu Bergeron.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Danny Blanchard, Dean Blanchard, Justin Hebert, Dustin Domangue, Kenneth Richard, and Jordy Belaire.

Burial with Military Honors were held in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Leroy.
