Janet was born on October 9, 1949, in Breaux Bridge. A passionate member of the American Legion Lady’s Auxiliary, Janet held the position of 3rd District President not once, but twice, from 2004 to 2005 and again from 2021 to 2022. Her leadership and commitment to the auxiliary were evident throughout her approximately 20-year tenure as Unit 289 President. Janet was not only a devoted leader, but also a tireless advocate for veterans, working diligently to support her fellow service members and their families.
Her commitment to her church community was also profound; Janet was very active in the Catholic Daughters at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks. Her faith guided her actions and was a source of strength and inspiration for those around her. Janet was known for her passion for Pokeno, facilitating lively gatherings with friends and family across four different groups.
Traveling was another of Janet’s loves, as she enjoyed attending national and state American Legion Conventions and making connections with others who shared her passions. This sense of camaraderie extended to her monthly gatherings with the graduates of 1967, a tradition that highlighted her love for friendship and social engagement.
Janet’s welcoming home was always filled with delight, laughter, and the delicious aromas of her cooking. Her ability to create a warm and inviting space made everyone feel comfortable and cherished. Known for her jolly disposition, Janet had a unique talent for bringing joy into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Charles Lasseigne; step-children, Ross Lasseigne and Collins Lasseigne; brother, Jerry Boyer (Tina); and her step-grandchild, Kaden Lasseigne.
